Dear Friends and Fellow Oregonians,
I am announcing my candidacy for, and intention to win, the Office of the Governor. As of February 22, 2022, I have begun transforming beliefs about how people really believe government should run into action. As a husband, father, businessman and community activist, I have been speaking with Oregonians from Baker City to Medford, and from Oregon City to Albany, about how this government has let down our communities for more than 30 years.
Just in the last 10 years, I have had to overcome: homelessness while raising a family; losing a business; being financially barred from finishing school due to homelessness; employment discrimination; housing discrimination; and being indefinitely laid off from a job, due to Covid-19. It is very clear: Oregon is in desperate need of leadership. Oregon and our working-class people need a champion. All of these experiences were preparation for the difficult times that have been thrust upon us as everyday people.
The state of politics today has relegated a majority of Oregonians to the sidelines, while a small group of career politicians bicker about how to drive this state into further disrepair. We have seen and voted for politicians who've made stage promises before. When will the promises of politicians become actions that allow us to build our hopes and dreams with our own hands?
The time has come, and that time is now. When voices say that our communities don't want police, we need someone to say, "Yes we do." When the voices say your freedom doesn't matter because of an unending state of emergency, we need someone to say, "Never again." When they lower every bar for our children and say it's because they cannot or will not make it in school otherwise, we need someone to say, "Yes they can, and they will." And when the government wants to take away your rights and everything you've worked for, we need someone who will again say, "No," and turn the wheel against the dark forces of government tyranny on your body and on your constitutional rights.
I am a Republican running to rebuild our small businesses and reopen quality schools. One month into this campaign, I have already received encouragement from hundreds of everyday Oregonians; working class Americans; mothers, patriots, and received an endorsement from Foster Futures, an organization dedicated to empowerment of children in our broken foster care system here in Oregon.
I have worked in nearly every tier of Oregon government and have seen the problems of low morale, spending waste, and poor leadership firsthand. I have worked in developmental disabilities, state- licensed childcare, senior care, and foster care systems as a leader and advocate, forging partnerships between organizations, businesses, individuals, workers, and our communities. As a former small business owner, I know how to work tirelessly. As an analyst for a major U.S. aerospace and defense manufacturer, I've been able to see oncoming changes to the global economy and capitalize on opportunities for thriving markets and neighborhoods. I am committed to the process of addressing our state's budgetary woes and have the innovative outlook to protect our increasingly valuable taxpayer dollars-- ensuring that every dollar is used where it is needed most.
I expect to run a lean and effective campaign for the Office of Governor with many of the necessary and key services donated by friends, businesses, community members and your extended networks. Despite this, I also need to raise enough money to ensure that: 1) My message gets out to Oregonians in every corner of the state, and 2) to ensure that this campaign has the fuel, energy, and strength it needs to finish the job. With your help, I can look forward to winning this race and keeping Oregon a clean, green, and beautiful place to live.
If you would like to discuss my plans or join a winning team, contact my campaign at OR4McCloud@yahoo.com or 503-798-7703. Thank you very much for your support!
Sincerely,
Tim McCloud
